September 29th, 2010 - Homebrew,Recipes

Credit:

This is the first time I have brewed with pale malt grains. this is the first time they were available at my local homebrew store. They didn't seem to add any color whatsoever to the brew kettle, but smelled great. well here is the recipe:

2 lbs pale ale grains

6.6 lbs amber liquid extract

1 lb extra light malt dry extract

2 ounces Liberty

2 ounces Cascade

2 ounces Amerillo

.25 oz Irish moss

Steps:

Bring 5.5 gallons to 155 F

steep grains for one hour

Add 6.6 lbs of amber malt liquid extract (two cans)

Add 1 ounce Cascade hops

Bring wort to rolling boil

Start 60 minute timer

50 min. - Add 1 ounce Liberty

40 min. - Add 1 ounce Amerillo

30 min - Add 1 ounce Cascade

20 min - Add 1 ounce Liberty - Also add 1 lb extra light dry malt extract.

10 min - Add 1 ounce Amerillo

OG = 1.062
FG = 1.018
ABV= 6.5%

This brew is now sitting pretty in primary still bubbling away. Will probably rack to secondary this weekend if fermentation is finished.

I hope it turns out well. I will update to let you know..

Kegged a couple of days ago. Had a glass last night, and it was awesome!
Cascades really over power but still tasty.
